It is no hidden fact that I am an ardent fan of quotes from Coco Chanel. Apart from her famous double “C” sign in fashion, she is so elegant and full of wisdom; it is hard not to agree with what she says. Recently, I received a book called “The Gospel According to Coco Chanel”, so I guess there is more wisdom from her to come! But in any case, Coco Chanel realized how significant accessories were for an individual and how important it was to have Accessoires. After all, one does not want to go out looking like a Christmas tree decorated with ornaments [tragic]. But one thing that has to be remembered is that Accessoires are as significant as the clothes we wear. It is important to note that accessories are pretty cheap. This means that if you are not very wealthy, you can get many pieces that will give a new outlook to your existing clothing. You will be shocked to learn how much influence one piece of accessories can make [go ahead and try!] Stores such as Forever 21 and H&M sell an enormous number of affordable jewelry. The trick here is to find the right pieces to get. Indeed, one needs to be cautious when choosing since I have also experienced getting some fashion accessories and later wondering whether I actually liked them. One should build a collection of staples that one would be able to use again and again, and not a heap of accessories for which one has no idea what to do. The rest of the pieces which I wear only on special occasions or are too long and bulky for the jewelry tree [trust me, you don’t want your tree to tumble over!] go to the organizing drawers where they can stay still without any fear of sliding off! Be accessory- and color-minded! I promise you’ll like it! I wear my basic jewelry items that are my Tiffany & Co earrings, bracelet, and necklaces, and on some days I wear my watch. However, when dressing up for a day, I check all my jewelry and choose those that match my outfit. Nevertheless, there are a few guidelines that I follow when choosing accessories: In case I’m wearing a statement necklace, my earrings must be minimum; most times I wear stud earrings in such cases. On the other hand, if I’m wearing a set of dangling earrings, I will not wear any necklace. In case I’m wearing a piece of jewelry that is gold, then all others that I’m wearing must also be gold. In case one piece is silver, all must be silver. I cannot wear more than one statement/cocktail ring at once. In case I wear both a bracelet and a ring, then one must be worn on one hand. When wearing hair accessories, that becomes the main accessory; I limit the use of other accessories. In case I’m wearing necklaces or bracelets, I’m careful in layering. The wearing of ankle bracelets and toe rings is completely out of the question.
